{"id":3201,"date":"2025-12-17T10:38:33","date_gmt":"2025-12-17T09:38:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nordiik.com\/en\/?p=3201"},"modified":"2025-12-17T10:38:33","modified_gmt":"2025-12-17T09:38:33","slug":"reach-eu-inspections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nordiik.com\/en\/reach\/reach-eu-inspections\/","title":{"rendered":"REACH EU Inspections Reveal Infringements in Imported Chemicals and Consumer Products"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=\u00bb\u00bb]<\/p>\n<h1><strong>REACH EU Inspections Reveal Infringements in Imported Chemicals and Consumer Products<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>REACH EU Inspections uncover widespread non-compliance<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>EU enforcement inspections have revealed <strong>significant regulatory infringements<\/strong> in imported substances, mixtures, and consumer products entering the European market.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A coordinated project by the ECHA Enforcement Forum focused on <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nordiik.com\/en\/chemical-consultancy-services\/register-chemical-substances-reach\/\">REACH compliance<\/a> for imported products<\/strong> across the EEA.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Inspectors from 29 EEA countries carried out 2,603 targeted inspections, often in cooperation with customs and national authorities.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The findings showed that <strong>one out of three substances in imported mixtures lacked <a href=\"https:\/\/nordiik.com\/en\/chemical-consultancy-services\/register-chemical-substances-reach\/\">REACH registration<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For substances imported on their own, <strong>registration was missing in seven percent of cases<\/strong>, a higher rate than in previous projects.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Many importers were unaware of the substances contained in their mixtures, increasing the risk of <strong>REACH registration violations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Restricted hazardous substances found in consumer goods<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Authorities also checked over 1,300 imported mixtures and consumer products for <strong>REACH restriction compliance<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Sixteen percent contained <strong>restricted hazardous substances above legal limits<\/strong>, posing potential risks to human health.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Most inspections focused on imported jewellery, especially for <strong>nickel, cadmium, and lead content<\/strong>. The results showed <strong>no improvement in jewellery compliance<\/strong>, with heavy metals still frequently detected.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Toys and textiles were also inspected, confirming <strong>persistent non-compliance in imported consumer products<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Authorisation failures and enforcement actions<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Inspectors reviewed REACH authorisation duties for <strong>substances of very high concern (SVHCs)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Out of 21 cases, <strong>authorisation was missing or expired in four instances<\/strong>. Almost all non-compliant products identified before market release were <strong>blocked or required corrective measures<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to the Enforcement Forum, <strong>targeted inspections and customs cooperation<\/strong> improve enforcement efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The project highlights the need for <strong>well-prepared importers and proactive compliance strategies<\/strong>. Importers should secure <strong>analytical reports and compliance evidence<\/strong> before goods enter the EU market.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Although inspections targeted high-risk products, the
