Following Brexit<\/strong>, Great Britain (GB) is no longer part of the EU scheme and to regulate biocidal products<\/strong> they have established their own regulations. The GB Biocidal Products Regulation<\/strong> (GB BPR) came into force on the 31st of December, 2020 and operates in the the same way as the EU Biocidal Products Regulation (EU BPR).<\/span><\/p>\n

Biocidal products are therefore regulated in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales) in accordance with GB Biocidal Products Regulations<\/strong> (GB BPR). However, in Northern Ireland<\/strong> biocidal products are still regulated under the EU Biocidal Products Regulation<\/strong> (EU BPR).<\/span><\/p>\n

These regulations ensure that when biocidal products<\/strong> are used correctly, they do not harm people<\/strong>, animals<\/strong> or the environment<\/strong> in general.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The authorisation of biocidal products<\/strong> in accordance with the GB Biocidal Products Regulation<\/strong> of the United Kingdom shares many of the requirements established by the EU Biocidal Products Regulation<\/strong> (BPR), such as the toxicological evaluation<\/strong> of our products or family of biocidal products, the preparation of the PAR<\/strong> (Product Assessment Report) and the IUCLID file<\/strong> as well as the demonstration of the appropriate efficacy and physicochemical properties, in order to ensure that the product is effective against the required and additional target organisms<\/strong> and, in turn, that it has a certain stability over time and is safe for use.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some kinds of biocidal products<\/strong> have other, more specific legislation applicable in the UK. For example, pesticides<\/strong>, human drugs<\/strong>, medical devices<\/strong>, veterinary drugs, and cosmetics<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

A biocidal product must be authorised before it can be placed on the market<\/strong>. Before the product can be authorised, the active substance(s) it contains or generates must be approved for use<\/strong> in that product type.<\/span><\/p>\n
