Turkish REACH: KKDIK Regulation

Turkish regulation (KKDIK) requires companies to register substances that are manufactured or imported into Turkey (Türkiye). These substances are registered alone or contained in mixtures or in articles in amounts equal to or greater than 1 tonne per year.

KKDIK does not set separate registration deadlines based on substance classification or annual manufacturing or import tonnage range. This contrasts with the methodology used in the EU REACH.

Companies exporting chemicals to Turkey (Türkiye) can appoint an Exclusive Representative (OR) to file the KKDIK registration and C&L notification on their behalf.

All pre-registrations had to be done before December 31, 2020. All registrations must be completed between December 31, 2020 and December 31, 2023. It is advisable to start a year and a half in advance to avoid any future problems. After December 31, 2023, substances may not be manufactured or placed on the market if they are not registered in accordance with the relevant provisions of KKDIK.
